Industry Background
Semi-finished products such as castings, forgings and cold-rolled steel sheets are prone to rust due to temporary water immersion, condensation or hand sweat during in-process circulation and global procurement. Although traditional oil coating provides short-term rust protection, it creates heavy burdens for subsequent shot blasting, welding and cleaning.
Industry Challenges
1.Rust damage from water immersion and condensation during production
Workshops feature high humidity and large temperature differences. Workpieces develop yellow rust spots within hours when stored in buffer areas or turnover trolleys. Rainwater during transit will worsen the situation.
2.Time and labor costs of degreasing
Oil-coated workpieces must be thoroughly degreased before spraying, welding, electroplating and other processes. Expenses for degreasers, equipment investment and waste liquid treatment keep accumulating.
3.Galvanic corrosion caused by mixed storage of multiple metals
Carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, copper and other metals with different electric potentials are stored together in yards. Galvanic cells form in humid environments and accelerate corrosion of low-potential metals.
4.Unprotected dead zones in deep holes, threads and inner cavities
Traditional spraying and dipping cannot fully cover inner surfaces of deep holes and threads, which become high-risk areas for rusting.
VCI Solution Value Proposition
Our solution prevents rust caused by water immersion and condensation without oil coating, retains original surface quality and reduces costs of subsequent shot blasting and cleaning. VCI vapor technology delivers full-coverage protection.
Recommended Solutions & Product Features
VCI Anti-Rust Film: Used for overall packaging of pallets and bins via vacuum packaging or heat shrinking, ideal for bulk temporary storage of semi-finished products.
VCI Anti-Rust Powder: Releases VCI vapor after volatilization, realizing synchronous internal and external protection for sintered parts and porous components.
VCI Anti-Rust Paper: Laid between stacked castings and forgings, with a rust protection period of 6 to 12 months.
VCI Anti-Rust Liquid: Water-based concentrate for spraying or immersion. A thin transparent film forms after drying, allowing direct welding and coating without removal.
Expected Benefits
Over 80% of oil coating processes eliminated or reduced
Degreasing and cleaning simplified or canceled, cutting waste liquid treatment costs by over 50%
Rust problems of deep holes and blind holes fundamentally resolved
